National Deworming Day 2018
Rajasthan is planning to implement National Deworming Day on Feb. 08, 2018 followed by Mop-Up day on February 15, 2018 through which Deworming of children of age 1 – 19 years will be done through Government School, Private School, Madarsa, Kendriya Vidhyalaya, Navodaya Vidhyalaya and Anganwadi Centres in all the Districts.

Objectives

As per the NDD guidelines, the objective of the program is to deworm all preschool and school-age children (1-19 years) through the platform of schools and anganwadi centers in order to improve their overall health, nutritional status, access to education and quality of life. The specific objectives for NDD 2018 are stated as below:

  • To sustain and increase coverage of children enrolled in private schools (registered in U-DISE) in the state up to 90%
  • To strengthen community awareness and mobilization, especially of out-of-school children through active engagement of ASHAs.
  • To sustain and strengthen inter-departmental convergence with stakeholder departments to maximize reach to schools and anganwadi centers for increased coverage.
  • Strengthen integrated distribution cascade in orientation / training of NDD-2018 round.

Sources:

  1. Private schools, madarsa and maa-badi kendra registered in U-DISE were targeted for NDD 2016. Kendriya Vidyalaya and Navodaya Vidyalaya were targeted on the basis of data received from Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Jaipur Regional Office and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti Jaipur Regional Office respectively.
  2. Survey Children refers to all children who reside in the survey area in which the anganwadi is located
  3. Blocks as per Department of Health, there are different blocks/projects of Education (257) and ICDS (304) Includes primary and upper primary schools managed by Rajasthan Council of Elementary Education (RCEE) and secondary and senior secondary schools managed by Rajasthan Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyaan (RMSA), also covers Sanskrit schools, KGBVs, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Navodaya Vidyalaya, Maa-Badi Centers and Madarsa. The data of Madarsas is as per the list shared by Rajasthan Madarsa Board with Department of Health on April 04, 2016. Source for rest of government institutions is U-DISE 2016-17
